She cites people who agree with Obama (the New Teacher Project for financial reasons) as evidence that Obama is right. Sweet. We should quit harping on BO because his underlying argument is sound which we know since so many people who agree with him agree with him.

Motivation is weak because more students (of all races and economic classes, let it be added) don’t like school, don’t work hard and don’t do well. In a 2008 survey of public high school teachers, 21 percent judged student absenteeism a serious problem; 29 percent cited “student apathy.” The goal of expanding “access” — giving more students more years of schooling — tends to lower educational standards.

It's the other education. Everything that makes sense within this big conversation but we don't know what to do with yet. The variable bits that people can't speak to as a whole. The dejargoned, unfiltered, quizzical, scrupulous, industrious, and circumspect.
